Hosted at the Canada-China Trade & Investment Conference in collaboration with the BC-Jiangsu Business Council, Pitch! China featured 7 finalists who presented to a panel of experienced judges including: Tang Dajun (Director of Jiangsu Ministry of Commerce); Gary Powroznik (Founder of G-Force Group), Lisa Payne (CFO at MineSense Technologies Ltd.), Alice Chen (Deals Advisor, China Business Network at PWC) and senior leaders from China’s Investment Bureaus, and high tech industrial parks.

The event also featured an insightful panel on cross-border trade, investment and innovation moderated by CCIN Advisor, Dr. Yves Tiberghien (Director, Institute of Asian Research). Panelists included: Tang Dajun, (Director, Jiangsu Ministry of Commerce), CCIN Director, Andre Garber (Director, Dentons Canada Startup Program), Colin Metcalfe (VP Corporate Affairs, Ridley Terminal), Jiang Wei (Deputy Director, Nanjing Economic & Tech Development Zone) and David Brett (President & CEO, EnGold Mines Ltd.).

The competition was fierce but ultimately, NanoOne Materials Corp. took home the prize – a 3 day trip to China with organized meetings. The visit took place in November 2016 where CCIN’s Executive Director and NanoOne’s CEO travelled across Jiangsu and Chonqing to meet key investors, government leaders and leading companies in the automobile and battery space.
